We have recently completed a Phase 1 Habitat Survey of the proposed site for a single wind turbine near Wigton, Cumbria for VG Energy. In addition to the Phase 1 Survey the hedgerows were assessed using the Hedgerow Evaluation and Grading System and the potential to for the turbine to potential bat flightlines along the surrounding hedgerows was assessed by calculating whether the turbine blades would extend in to the recommended 50m buffer zone around hedgerows and hedgerow trees. The site was a silage field and we were able to inform the client that there should be no ecological constraints on their proposals.
